Building Laboratory Manager

Christopher's key roles are to oversee day-to-day lab management operations throughout the building's four floors of laboratories and to give competent advise and guidance on all health and safety matters to the NDMRB's two units (TDI & CMD) and it's over 200 occupants.

Working with the support of the Laboratory Officer and the whole of the Building & Facilities Management team, Christopher ensures that the laboratories are run as efficiently as possible whilst also adhering to the necessary local and national legislation and regulations. This allows him to provide solutions for research staff and students that means that they can work to the best of their abilities in a world-leading research institute that is both a collaborative and safe working environment.

Chris's roles as Departmental Safety Officer (DSO) and Biological Safety Officer (BSO), mean that Chris is the lead adviser on all aspects of health and safety in the building. Using his NEBOSH and Biosafety Practitioner qualifications, Chris has the knowledge and competence to inform and guide staff, students and management as to their responsibilities, best practice and important legislation that keeps all building occupants safe and healthy. 

He is the lead for the building's Sustainability Working Group; the Working Group is currently working towards achieving the highest possible LEAF accreditation with the aim of highlighting the seriousness with which environmental sustainability is understood and implemented throughout the NDMRB's labs and offices.
